HIV drug shown to be effective against some forms of cancer

US immunologists have developed a drug that can destroy HIV CCR5 receptors from within immune cells. Tsargrad .

Scientists from Temple University (USA) have developed a new method of destroying the human immunodeficiency virus – a discovery that could potentially save millions of lives.

This technique rids the body of HIV cells and alters their DNA so that they are no longer susceptible to infection by the virus.

Many scientists believe that the therapy’s effectiveness in rodents means it will be just as effective in humans.

Vadim Pokrovsky, head of the specialized research department for epidemiology and AIDS prevention at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, said that the new drug combines two different technologies into one treatment.

In Russia, dual gene therapy has been under development for several years. However, it will take another 6 years to test this method in humans.
