watermelon increases the body’s ability to metabolize

May 5, 2023

Louisiana State University researchers have proven that eating watermelon improves heart health and overall nutritional quality.

We analyzed data from 18 healthy young people who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHANES).

For two weeks, the experts observed how drinking watermelon juice affected the participants. In particular, they drew attention to the effect of L-citrulline and L-arginine on the bioavailability of nitric oxide, as well as on heart rate variability.

The authors note that although their study had a small sample size and more research is needed, it showed that regular consumption of watermelon can improve cardiovascular health and metabolism.

Watermelon is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and lycopene, all of which help prevent heart disease.

In addition, people who included watermelon in their diet had a more nutritious diet: they consumed more fiber, magnesium and potassium; vitamins C and A; lycopene and other carotenoids.

At the same time, they reduced their intake of added sugars and total saturated fat. Gazeta.ru .
