The leadership of the social network Twitter said that it would not allow former US President Donald Trump to re-start his blog on the service, even if the politician is re-elected head of state.
“The way our policies work, when you’re removed from the platform, you’re removed from the platform,” Ned Segal, Twitter vice president of finance, told CNBC.
According to a Twitter top manager, such rules were allegedly introduced so that users “do not call for violence.”
In January of this year, Twitter permanently blocked the account of the then-current US president, which was followed by about 80 million people. The resource management justified its actions by the fact that Trump allegedly incited his supporters to storm the Capitol (in reality, the politician urged people not to break the law and leave the building).
After the January events, Twitter and Facebook staged a large-scale campaign to block the accounts of Trumpists, and Apple, Google, and Amazon attacked the social network Parler, to which a mass exodus of supporters of the ex-head of the government began.
The persecution of Trump and his supporters by the IT giants has displeased even those politicians who were not in love with the 45th US president. In particular, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Trump has the right to freedom of speech, and the lack of clear legal grounds for the liquidation of his accounts raises concerns.
