Kirov composer Protasov was sentenced to 9 years in prison in the case of military counterfeits. Musician – the author of the city anthem


The prosecutor asked in absentia to appoint nine years in a penal colony to the composer, former conductor of the Vyatka Philharmonic Prokhor Protasov in the case of spreading “false news” about the Russian army based on political hatred (clause “d” part 2 of article 207.3 of the Penal Code). The prosecution also asked for four years to deprive the musician of the right to administer and create websites.
The Protasov case has been considered by the Pervomaisky District Court of Kirov since November 2022. How noted Fontanka, at that time, was the first trial in absentia under Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The musician himself said on his social networks that he was accused in absentia of spreading fakes for posts on VKontakte published from April to June, which tell about the events in Bucha and a missile attack on a center shopping in Kremenchug. Protasov now lives in Canada.
In August, the musician’s page on the social network was blocked at the request of the general prosecutor’s office, and in September, his parents’ house was raided, writes Mediazona*. After that, the Interior Ministry put Protasov on the wanted list. In November 2022, the vkirove.ru portal informed that the case against the man could be initiated by the denunciation of the composer’s colleagues.
According to vkirove.ru, during the first meeting in the Protasov case, the court heard the testimony of witnesses, among them the former artistic director of the Vyatka Philharmonic Andrey Sandalov, professors Anna Sandalova and Nina Semishkur, an employee of the FSB of the Kirov region and the mother of the composer Lyubov Protasova.

“Sandalov, Sandalova and Semishkur gave a positive description of the defendant, but noted that after appeared on his page on the social network, they unsubscribed from the page and stopped communicating,” wrote the journalists of the portal.

According to them, Andrei Sandalov noted at the meeting that he “does not like the oppositional attitude against the current government”, and Protasov’s messages, according to the witness, were criticized and condemned by both the authorities and the Russian army.

“He wrote very harshly that there is no future in our state and Kirov is rotting. At the time, he was in Canada. Of course, I could not resist and wrote: you have received an excellent education and you treat it like this, ”said Semishkur during the trial.

An employee of the FSB from the Kirov region, in turn, noted that the composer posted his posts on social networks after the summary of the official briefing was published on the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Protasov graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, is a laureate of All-Russian and international competitions, was the conductor of the Vyatka Symphony Orchestra. VA Raevsky.
