Turkish potter Ahmet Tashhomcu, Guinness Book record holder, gave a master class to the people of Tyumen News

February 22, 2023

First, he went to Tomsk with free training courses, where, by the way, he comes with enviable consistency to support local festivals. And then for the first time he reached Tyumen – his creative girlfriend Svetlana Vedeneva lives here, co-founder of the “Land of Art”, also a famous potter, but already Siberian endurance and dressing. Tashhomdzhu planned a master exhibition with friends, another at the Slovtsov museum complex, already in an official way and with an even larger number of curious people.- Pitcher! Ship for wine! Whistle bird! – the guests of the creative center “Land of Art” shouted at each other, trying to figure out what Akhmet, smeared with clay, was spinning on the potter’s wheel. So many people flocked to the site, which opened at the end of last December, to see how a world famous master, winner of creative championships, holder of the Guinness Book of Records celebrated at least one wedding.

The marriage took place: the hands of a virtuoso potter married the plastic mass and the water of a small vase. They centered an eight-kilogram piece, twisted it, pulled it out, stroked it, crushed it, then inflated it through a tube. About half an hour, and a white miracle was born, girdled with multicolored threads. Everyone in their place, without blurring. The main brightfield is not dirty. Respect the proportions, maintain the lines, continuously speed up the product for half a meter – an art form in its own right. None of the craft fans revealed the idea of the guest from Turkey. The slightly lower figure refers directly to a country close to the Mediterranean, which has been experiencing an irreparable tragedy for several weeks. It was a dervish, but not spinning, but frozen – apparently, praying for the state, through which, effortlessly, the elements passed.

– Dervish Ahmeta – in the Japanese technique of neriyagi. But he certainly gave it his name. He always has everything going for him, an incredible imagination. In 2013, in two months, he created a 5.75-meter-high vase from five tons of material – he immediately entered the record books. Safe and sound so far – stands in Antalya. In 2019, he won two awards at the World Championships in Italy – the first for aesthetics, the third for technology. Only our friend has 13 hot stuff options in his arsenal! During the working day in usual mode, it releases 50 ships. This is a walking encyclopedia of pottery. He’s a workaholic. You should see him do things… with his feet. Culture shock! Why does Akhmet need records, exercises in virtuosity? I guessed: he wants to surprise himself first, – Svetlana Vedeneva spoke about the idol while concentrating on the conjuration.

They met five years ago at the Ax Festival in the Tomsk region. Akhmet worked on the jury, Svetlana just started turning the circle. Since then, their paths have often crossed. Moreover, the wife from Tyumen had a little command of Turkish, and the Turk successfully passed the exam on the word “Sve-eee-ta”. Maybe that’s enough for creativity. There is a language of clay!By the way, the first meeting of Tyumen residents with Akhmet symbolically coincided with International Mother Language Day. Each person has his own homeland, but we learn to understand the other, especially through creativity, the arts, the impressions of what we have seen, read, heard.- Clay is an amazing material. Adam and Eden have a common base: it is the red earth, the first earth. In difficult times, we return to our roots, plunge into the world ocean of meanings, – said art critic Tatiana Borko.Let’s say more: in Turkish, clay is called kil, that is to say mud. Literally out of dirt, a masterpiece is born. There is something philosophical, pure in the play on words. Ahmet, by the way, really likes it. He could have taught a lot to Russian potters, who have unfortunately lost their traditions and forgotten the precepts of their craftsman ancestors. In Tomsk, the virtuoso rushed off the track. Let him also go to Tyumen. In the meantimeAfter a tour in Siberia, Ahmet Tashhomdzha is expected in Turkey. Last year, the country asked UNESCO to enroll the master in a special registry as a living treasure. A positive response came. But the potter did not receive a certificate because of the earthquake. For now, the ceremony has been postponed to March.
