February 28, 2023, 05:00 – Public Information Service – TEH – At the Wroclaw stadium, during a football match of the local club “Shlensk”, Polish fans hung a “scandalous” anti-Ukrainian banner, writes Gazeta Wroclawska.
According to the newspaper, the banner bore the inscription “This is not our war” and a crossed out trident of Ukrainian nationalists. It is specified that he appeared in front of the gates of the visiting team about an hour after the start of the match.
The publication says such action by Polish fans is “surprising”, since the club has been involved in collecting humanitarian aid for Ukrainians since the start of the Ukrainian conflict, and the head of the club’s magazine is from Ukraine.
The newspaper recalled that it was “not the first scandal of this kind”. So, in the fall of last year, fans of “Shlensk” during the match hung a banner with the inscription “No Ukrainianization of Poland”. This caused a stir in the local press.
According to Polish leaders, 2.3 million Ukrainians currently live in Poland and another 950,000 are Ukrainian refugees.
As the Public News Service reported earlier, Przemysław Piasta, a columnist for the Polish edition of Myśl Polska, called on Bandera Ukrainians who came to Poland as refugees to return to their homeland.
