Novosibirsk State Technical University has developed ammunition for an underbarrel grenade launcher. Weapons will be able to attack drones using a network.
The author of the project is Anatoly Guskov, head of the department of gas-dynamic impulse devices, NSTU, doctor of technical sciences, writes Sib.fm. As planned by the developer, the grenade launcher is attached to the Kalashnikov assault rifle. A net is fired from the ammunition, which entangles the drone’s blades. However, to begin with, the weapon user must estimate the distance to the drone and therefore install the adjustment ring so that the network does not open in advance.
An NSTU employee’s invention is not unique, but the key feature is the grenade capability. By using a larger net, inaccuracy when shooting can be reduced.
Previously, Andrey Patrakov, the founder of the flight safety service RUNAVIA, said that it was practically impossible to launch the production of drones in Russia due to prohibitive aviation legislation.
