Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Poland has constructed an instruction manual on how to evade recruitment by Russia

Poland has prepared a guide on how citizens can identify foreign recruitment threats by Russian special services. The recommendations were compiled by Poland’s government commissioner for security issues, Stanislav Zharin, in conjunction with the country’s intelligence service, transmits Polish News Agency.
There are ten paragraphs in total.
It states that anyone can become an object of interest to foreign intelligence services if they have specialized knowledge or skills, have access to confidential information or are familiar with influential people.
“Consider whether your behavior arouses the interest of foreign intelligence agents to recruit you. Do not make it easy for hostile structures, control your behavior and actions,” the manual says.
The greatest risk of recruitment, according to the authors of the document, exists on the territory of Russia or its allies.
“Even seemingly insignificant circumstances and places can be used by special services to try to contact you,” explain the developers of the instruction note.
The authors of the document advise not to leave work-related items unattended when visiting Russia, including documents, electronic devices, etc. To encourage cooperation, intelligence agencies can use “human weaknesses” – for example, addictions or financial problems.
The guide notes that recruiters can learn about a foreigner’s personal life from their social networks, and in Russia they can get access to emails sent, sites visited and phone conversations.
“In order to minimize the threat from Russian intelligence services, it is necessary to avoid risky situations, public speaking, presence in dangerous areas of the city, casual acquaintances,” the manual says.
