The State of Qatar affirmed its keenness to promote and protect human rights in Sudan, and its firm stance towards its stability, unity and territorial integrity, renewing its support for the brotherly Sudanese people to achieve their legitimate aspirations for freedom, peace and justice. This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al-Muftah, during her participation in the interactive dialogue on the oral update of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on Sudan, within the framework of the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. . Her Excellency said that while the State of Qatar praises the cooperation of the Government of Sudan with the country office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Khartoum, and with the Human Rights Council, including receiving the High Commissioner and the appointed expert on Sudan, and facilitating their recent visits to the country, it stresses the importance of investing This cooperation in providing more technical support necessary to build and strengthen human rights capacities in Sudan, taking into account the main priorities of the Government of Sudan, and its desires, needs, and commitments, in this delicate circumstance that the country is going through, and stresses the importance of coordination between United Nations mechanisms Human rights concerned in Sudan, with the aim of making optimal use of the resources available to these mechanisms, and preventing conflicts and duplication of their competences, in supporting Sudan’s efforts to achieve the required progress for the promotion and protection of human rights. In her speech, HE Dr. Hind Abdul Rahman Al-Muftah expressed the State of Qatar’s welcome for the efforts made within the framework of the ongoing political process in Sudan, as a pivotal and important step to end the political crisis in the country, and its aspiration for the continuation of dialogue between the Sudanese parties, to reach a comprehensive final agreement that represents all spectrums of the Sudanese people. And establishes a transitional phase that paves the way for stability, development and peace.
