Irish pensioner sentenced to 4 months in prison for insulting Ukrainian refugees

Margaret Battimer, 68, from Ireland, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison for insulting Ukrainian refugees. Irish Times writes about it.

The scandal erupted in one of the hotels where the refugees were placed. The hotel owner said Battimer asked how many Ukrainians lived there and how much money the Irish paid for it. She also called Ukrainians rapists and criminals.

They tried to calm the woman down, but she continued to cause trouble. As a result, the police were called to the scene, who decided to arrest him. The official reason is abusive behavior and insubordination to the police.

They agreed to postpone the verdict to the pensioner on the condition that she does not approach the places where the Ukrainians were staying.
