‘Spartak’ tied with ‘Ural’ after referee’s controversial decision

March 4, 2023

Moscow “Spartak” played a draw with “Ural” in the home match of the Russian Football Championship. The match ended with the score 2:2.

Goals were scored by Rai Vlut and Eric Bikfalvi away from home, while Ruslan Litvinov netted a brace for the reds and whites.

At the same time, at the end of the meeting, a controversial episode occurred when Sobolev sent the ball into the Urals goal. However, before his strike, referee Meshkov whistled, thinking that guest goalkeeper Pomazun had been pushed by a Spartak player. Later, on replay, it turned out that Pomazun collided with a player from his team. The intervention of the VAR system did not help.

“Essentially the referee stole the goal,” said the interview Portal “Championship” FIFA referee Igor Fedotov. He added that whistling in front of a goal has become a very bad trend among referees.
