Firefighters completely extinguished the fire at the Vidnoe Coke and Gas Plant. There were no casualties. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia for the Moscow region.
According to the media, a pump column containing benzene was on fire. A column of flames climbed 20 meters. The fire area was 200 square meters. Rescuers took just over three hours to eliminate the consequences of the fire.
Eco-monitoring experts say there is no threat to the environment. Locals disagree with this. They had previously complained about the company as the source of an unpleasant smell. However, the environmentalists’ measurements did not confirm their fears.
