The US Treasury Department has announced that a number of Sberbank subsidiaries are no longer subject to previously announced restrictions against them. In total, the easing affected four organisations.
Thus, the measures no longer apply to Bereke Bank, the former daughter of Sberbank, located in Kazakhstan. The financial institution was acquired from Sberbank by the local holding company Baiterek in September last year. The new owner has sent a request to the US Treasury to lift the sanctions due to the fact that it is no longer controlled by a Russian bank.
As the Public News Service wrote, Sber began accepting payment cards in stores in Crimea and Sevastopol on February 15. The Bank has published on its official website the tariffs for the acquisition of services in these regions.
In addition, Sberbank launched loans to legal entities on the peninsula. Previously, the credit institution only worked on the peninsula with individuals.
