The ex-president announced the authorities’ plans to detain him on March 21.
Former US President Donald Trump has warned that US law enforcement is planning his arrest on March 21. The billionaire wrote about it on a page of the Truth Social social network.
Trump noted that he learned of the plans to detain him through “unlawful leaks” from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. What exactly his department is accusing him of, Trump did not specify. At the same time, he called on his supporters to demonstrate immediately in case of detention.
“Protest, take back our country!” Trump addressed his supporters.
Another American billionaire, Elon Musk, reacted to Trump’s message. According to him, the detention will ensure re-election in the 2024 presidential election of the former head of the White House.
Earlier, US broadcaster NBC, citing White House sources, said the prosecutor’s office was preparing an indictment against Trump over payments to porn star Stormy Daniels. The case is being handled by the New York Police Department, the FBI, the US Secret Service and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
The channel notes that the investigation against Trump is linked to the case against his former lawyer Michael Cohen. In 2018, he confessed to giving $130,000 to Stormy Daniels. The money was for the silence of a pornographic actress over an affair with Trump in 2006. The billionaire was responsible for handing over the money to Daniels during the 2016 election campaign.
The money was listed in the documents as funds for legal fees. After that, the prosecutor’s office began to investigate the case of forgery of business documents. Trump did not appear in court to testify.
Law enforcement in New York has already begun preparations for possible protests and riots near the Manhattan Criminal Court building. NBC sources believe they could start if Donald Trump is indicted.
Recently, the incumbent president of the United States, Joe Biden, suddenly spoke about his main rival, the billionaire Donald Trump. He called his predecessor “the future president”. After those words, Biden said, “God forbid.”
