The German public prosecutor’s office has still not been able to identify the suspects in the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, said the country’s attorney general Peter Frank.
“Our investigation is always directed towards the unknown,” he said.
He noted that investigators continue to assess the traces and objects that were found on the vessel.
“Currently, it is impossible to make convincing statements on this issue, especially on the issue of state participation,” the attorney general added.
A day earlier, US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had been helping the US cover up information about the Nord Stream terror attack since last fall. The Pulitzer Prize winner noted that there was no evidence the German Chancellor knew about the sabotage in advance.
Last week, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the subject of the explosions at Nord Stream could not be “swept under the carpet”, Russia would continue to seek answers. She stressed that Copenhagen’s refusal to involve Moscow in the investigation of the terrorist attack would not change the situation.
