Medvedev: Russia will use any weapon to try to take over Crimea

March 24, 2023

Any attempt to retake Crimea could tempt Russia to use all types of weapons, including nuclear weapons. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, issued such a warning to the West.

“If we talk about some serious offensives associated with an attempt to take over Crimea, then it is quite obvious that this is the basis for the use of all means of protection. Including the doctrine of nuclear deterrence provided by the fundamentals, when the use of any type of weapon against Russia threatens the existence of the state itself,” Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media.

In the same interview published on Medvedev’s Telegram channel, the politician did not rule out that, within the framework of the NMD, Russian troops could reach both Kiev and Lvov, if necessary.
