Shooting at Sacramento’s gurdwara, 2 injured

New York: Two people were seriously injured in a shooting at a gurudwara in California’s capital, Sacramento. Officials have given this information. According to reports, a report of shots fired at Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society near Bradshaw Road and Gerber Road in Sacramento County was reported around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, said three people were involved, which led to the shooting. Everyone involved in the incident knew each other. He further said that both the people who received bullet injuries are undergoing treatment, while one person has been detained. His nationality is still unknown.

According to the Sacramento County Department of Transportation, the Sacramento Sikh Society was hosting a Nagar Kirtan parade that closed roads in the area for 6 hours. Sacramento City Council member Lisa Kaplan wrote on Twitter: “The shooting is heartbreaking, turning an occasion for celebration into one of mourning.” My prayers are with those injured, may God give them full recovery. We should do something to put an end to the incidents of firing, so that all celebrations can take place without violence.

According to one survey, two out of three California residents fear becoming victims of mass shootings in the state and around the US. The survey was conducted by the Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) at the University of California, Berkeley. It said that nearly 63 percent of registered voters in the US state with the largest population of nearly 40 million worry that they or someone close to them could be a victim of gun violence at any time. In January there was a string of mass shootings in California. As of February, the Gun Violence Archive has counted 80 mass shootings in the US this year.
