Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Russian Foreign Ministry has authorized a claim for compensation for damage caused by the Nord Stream explosions

Russia has the right to demand compensation for damage caused by the explosion of Nord Stream gas pipelines, Dmitry Birichevsky, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Economic Cooperation Department, told reporters.

“We do not rule out raising the issue of compensation for damages resulting from the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipelines later,” Birichevsky explained.

After an investigation by American journalist Seymour Hersh, the permanent mission circulated a draft UN Security Council resolution on an independent international investigation into what happened, the Russian diplomat recalled. He believes that “the West is actively sabotaging the work on the draft resolution. He says they cite the lack of “added value” to the international investigation.

The Russian side, the diplomat concluded, continues to insist on conducting a full and open international investigation with the participation of Russian representatives.
