Complaints about promoting Zionist beliefs in a children’s series broadcast on Vodafone and Urid Qatar

Qataris complained about the broadcast of a children’s program on the channels of telecommunications companies in Qatar, which includes the promotion of Zionist beliefs and symbols associated with the Israeli occupation.

The complainants told Al Sharq that while their children were watching a cartoon series called Firebuds on the Disney Junior channel within the package of channels provided by Vodafone Qatar, they were surprised to see clips showing what is called in Israel: “Menorah” Or the so-called Temple Candlestick, which is one of the most prominent symbols of Israel.

In research, it was found that the Disney Junior channel, which shows the aforementioned series, also comes within the package of Ooredoo Qatar channels.

They said that the series promoted, through the characters in it, the idea of celebrating one of the Jewish holidays, of which the menorah is a symbol within religious rituals.

The complainants expressed their dissatisfaction with the display of such beliefs that contradict our true religion, as well as their insertion into children’s programs, calling for the need to activate censorship over what the local communication companies present to our children.
