The Qatar Cancer Society participated in the meeting of the Arab Societies Against Breast Cancer, which was organized by the Hope Association – Center Pierre and Marie Curie, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in Algeria, from 4-5 March in the Algerian capital, under the slogan “Together for Them,” with the aim of preparing a proposal to establish an Arab federation to combat breast cancer. Breast cancer under the umbrella of the League of Arab States. The first day witnessed the opening speech of the organizers and speeches of representatives of the Algerian Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization and the World Cancer Federation (virtual), as well as presenting the experience of Arab societies participating in the fight against breast cancer, including the Qatar Cancer Society. The second day witnessed a discussion session on the proposal to establish an Arab federation to combat breast cancer, its objectives and mechanism of action, as well as a discussion on breast cancer in the Arab community, “Reality and Challenges”. His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Khaled bin Jabor Al Thani – Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Cancer Society – praised the idea of an Arab union to combat breast cancer under the umbrella of the League of Arab States – which will have a great impact on combating breast cancer in the countries of the region, especially since breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer. It is widespread among women, not only at the Arab level, but also at the international level.
