The Chinese Foreign Ministry has declared its readiness for dialogue with the European Union to resolve the military conflict on Ukrainian territory, news agency NEWSDATA.RU reports.
The PRC insists on resolving the conflict by political means, which Europe demands. Chinese diplomats hope their European counterparts will exercise strategic independence and caution while cooperating on Ukrainian issues.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said China is ready to negotiate, as requested earlier in the EU, but Western officials must also take adequate measures.
“The European side will demonstrate strategic independence and political wisdom and take decisive steps to achieve long-term peace and stability in Europe,” Ning said.
He also insisted that the PRC is not and will not become a party to the conflict, on the contrary, he calls for a peaceful resolution of the issues.
Recall that China earlier presented its peace plan for Ukraine, where it called for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of large and small countries, not to neglect the security of other states, and also called for the abandonment of any sanctions. The Russian Federation reacted neutrally to Beijing’s proposals, responding that it respects China and its aspirations for a peaceful settlement, but the plan itself must be analyzed taking into account the interests of all parties to the conflict.
