In 2018, Daniels published a book called Full Disclosure, in which she describes meeting Trump at a Lake Tahoe golf club in 2006. The porn star was then 27, the future president was 60. According to the actress, they continued to meet for some time, but there was no longer an intimate relationship between them.
The Wall Street Journal reported in 2018 that Daniels received money in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election under a nondisclosure agreement regarding his ties to Trump. The porn actress went to court, demanding that the contract be declared invalid, because Trump did not sign it, but lost the case.
Trump himself said his attorney Michael Cohen paid Daniels on his own initiative. In late 2018, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison and fined on several counts, including illegal payments to women for remaining silent about ties to Trump.
The New York Times wrote that the $130,000 payment could be considered an illegal presidential campaign contribution. The publication noted that such cases had not been considered before, and sending Trump to jail “can be a difficult task.”
