Former AvtoVAZ chief and current UzAuto Motors chief Bo Andersson said his company managed to overcome Tolyatti’s concern. According to him, the production site in Uzbekistan assembled and sold 40% more cars compared to the factory in the Samara region.
Andersson said that after the introduction of new sanctions against Russia, all previously signed contacts lost their relevance. As a result, in 2022, the Uzbek production of UzAuto Motors was able to produce and sell through the dealer network 40% more cars, i.e. 335,000 cars. According to the general director of UzAuto Motor, this is a victory over the Volga automaker.
- We defeated the Russian “AvtoVAZ”. They sold 200,000 cars,” Andersson said in an interview with the Swedish edition of Dagens industri.
He added that the company plans to continue working not only with the EU and the United States, but also with Russia.
