“After two months abroad, I’m happy to be back home, but I’m sad because I finished my last match in Miami with physical discomfort,” Alcaraz shared on social media. “After today’s visit to my doctor in Murcia and the examination, I will not be able to go to Monte Carlo to start the clay court tour. I have post-traumatic arthritis in my left hand and muscular discomfort in the spine, which needs rest to prepare for everything that has to happen. See you in 2024.”
World number 7 Auger-Aliassime will miss the Monte-Carlo tournament with a left knee injury. Eleven-time Monte Carlo champion Rafael Nadal also declined to participate.
