Poland to supply Ukraine with 14 MiG-29 fighters

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on an official visit to Poland together with Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska. The agenda of the visit includes the whole range of Ukrainian-Polish relations.

At a joint press conference, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that in total Poland will send 14 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.

“The four MiG-29s that we left in storage have already been handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in recent months. Now four MiGs are being transferred, eight in total,” Duda told a press conference. are ready to… donate six more, which are currently in the works. We assume they can be transferred in the near future.”

Duda also said that Poland is seeking additional NATO security guarantees for Ukraine, which will boost its military potential, at the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius.

Responding to a question about the situation in Bakhmut, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said: “We (Ukrainian Armed Forces) are in Bakhmut and the enemy does not control it.”

According to Zelenskyy, the situation in the city is difficult and “appropriate decisions” will be taken if Ukrainian troops risk being surrounded there. The Ukrainian President stressed that the most important thing for him is to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.


“For me, the most important thing is not to lose our soldiers, and, of course, if there is a moment of even more tense events and the danger that we could lose our personnel due to the encirclement, well sure, the corresponding right decisions will be made by the generals,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president also said that Ukraine wants Poland to become its key partner in efforts to rebuild the country after the end of the war with Russia. Zelenskyy invited Polish companies to come to Ukraine before the end of the war in order to secure a better position in Ukrainian markets.
