Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The President of Finland has accepted the request of the Prime Minister to resign from the government

Finnish President Sauli Niiniste has endorsed Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s request to step down from the government amid the election of a new parliament. This was reported in the head of state’s office.

“Today, April 6, 2023, Prime Minister Sanna Marin handed over her government’s resignation to the President of the Republic of Finland, Sauli Niinista, in Mäntyniemi,” the statement read.

It is noteworthy that the Finnish leader asked the Cabinet of Ministers to continue in office until the appointment of a new government – work on its formation will begin on April 11. It is expected that the new composition of the government of the northern European state will appear before the middle of the summer.

Earlier it became known that Finland has officially become the 31st member of NATO. On Tuesday April 4, Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto presented US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken with a document on Helsinki’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty.
