A group of social security workers and their accomplices convicted in the Nizhny Novgorod region

The Dzerzhinsky City Court sentenced a group of 11 people, including two employees of the city’s social welfare department. The convicts were found guilty of fraud in the receipt of payments, committed by a group of people by prior agreement, as well as the use of their official position, on a large and especially large scale.

Between December 2018 and April 2019, Social Security workers fabricated data on figureheads allegedly eligible to receive social benefits. Thus, more than 2.7 million rubles were stolen.

Former social workers were sentenced to prison terms of four and a half and five years, their accomplices to prison terms of one to two years and three months. In addition, the convict will have to compensate the damage caused to the state in the amount of 11.2 million rubles.
