French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the People’s Republic of China has not affected Beijing’s position on the Ukrainian conflict. The leader of the European country was unable to convince the PRC to make adjustments to the peace plan in order to increase pressure on Russia, TASS quotes the head of the State Duma Committee on international affairs, the head of the LDPR Leonid Slutsky.
– The alliance between Russia and China cannot be shaken by Paris or Brussels. The French president’s visit to China has not affected Beijing’s position on the Ukrainian conflict, the politician wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, Macron failed to convince Xi Jinping to adjust the peace plan to resolve the clash between Moscow and Kiev. The changes proposed by the head of France concerned increased pressure on the Russian Federation. But the PRC made no such concessions to the Europeans.
Moreover, according to Slutsky, the French failed in the so-called “Zelenskyy task”. Chinese President Xi Jinping had to be persuaded to talk to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This request was even joined by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. But the Chinese leader only promised that he would call Kiev when the time was right.
Leonid Slutsky again stressed that China has shown its reliability as Russia’s partner, as well as a constructive approach to solving global security issues and forming a fair multipolar world order.
