April 12, 2023

Chocolate consumed in moderation is unlikely to harm human health, but the treat can be a problem for the teeth. Dentist Amanda Sheehan noted that you shouldn’t run for a brush immediately after the candy.

According to the expert, a large amount of sugar in chocolate can cause the formation of harmful plaque. If left untreated, it can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.

The dentist is convinced that dental problems can be avoided if you take care of your oral health, reports the Daily Express.

The specialist added that tooth damage can be avoided if you do not brush your teeth immediately after the candy. After a meal containing acid or sugar, it is necessary to wait at least half an hour to maintain the hardness of the enamel.

Doctors advise expecting a minimum of 30 grams of free sugar per day. It is often found in chocolate, cookies, sodas and fruit juices. After such a meal, dentists recommend rinsing your mouth with water.
