Future Iceland friend Nick Carter, who made the park famous with boy band Backstreet Boys, which will entertain the compatriots at a concert later this month, has been prosecuted for an alleged rape which allegedly took place in 2003.
The woman who pursued him is Melissa Schuman, who was part of the American girl group Dream which was popular around the turn of the century.
Melissa alleges that in 2003, when she was 18 and Nick was 22, he performed oral sex on her without her consent and then forced her to perform oral sex on him. Nick then took her virginity despite her informing him that she intended to remain celibate until her marriage. This appears in court documents as the means TMZ has on hand.
Not a new charge
Melissa first came forward in 2017, following the MeToo movement, and revealed that Nick raped her at his home in 2003. She said she was triggered by reports of sexual misconduct by women by film producer Harvey Weinstein and thought it was fair to present his own experience.
Nick then released a statement saying he was devastated by the allegations. He and Melissa reportedly had sex, but it was reportedly with the consent of both. They also recorded music together and performed together at concerts.
In February 2018, Melissa went to the Santa Monica police where she filed a complaint hoping that Nick would be charged. However, the prosecution refused to pursue the case because the alleged offense was time-barred.
However, there has now been a change in the law in California where the statute of limitations for sex offenses has been extended.
Accusing him of attempted blackmail
TMZ also reports that Nick counterattacked Melissa, accusing her of defamation and extortion.
Nick claims that Melissa is part of a plot against him to extort money from him. Melissa colluded with another woman, Shannon Ruth, who also sued Nick for alleged sexual assault.
“Just because Nick Carter is famous doesn’t mean he can get away with a crime.” I’m patient and always will be,” Shannon said at a press conference in December where she revealed that she and three unnamed women had sued the singer for his alleged wrongdoing. Nick’s attorney sent a statement to PageSix that Melissa has been trying to blame the singer for years, but they’re as groundless today as they were in 2017 when she first came forward with them. A Nevada judge reviewed the detailed evidence presented by Nick and his attorneys and found they had a solid case on their hands, but they accuse Melissa of intentionally trying to damage his reputation and extract money to colleagues, friends and family. .

Melissa released a statement on The post office where she said she faced a lot of adversity just for standing up for herself.
