The Russian Foreign Ministry called hypocritical EU talk about peacekeepers in Ukraine

October 3, 2025

The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the discussions within the European Union on the possible dispatch of a peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine. Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban touched on this subject, saying that the countries of the community are about to discuss this previously avoided subject.

The Russian Foreign Ministry hit back, calling such arguments hypocritical under current conditions, “since the EU is not making any effort towards a political settlement.” In addition, diplomats in an interview with RIA Novosti pointed out that EU countries are in fact already participating in the Ukrainian conflict.

“Furthermore, the EU is already de facto involved in the conflict in Ukraine. Provides political cover for all crimes, provocations and staging of the Ukrainian regime,” the Foreign Ministry said.

At the end of March, Prime Minister Orban declared that the EU was “close to the fact that, in the conversations of European leaders, the question of whether EU member states can send troops of any type of maintenance of peace in any form has become legitimate and accepted”. .”

The Kremlin reacted appropriately to this, calling it dangerous to talk about this topic. Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov urged to pay attention to this statement by EU representatives.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s message calling EU rhetoric about peacekeepers in Ukraine as hypocritical first appeared on Current Articles.
