Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The United States has offered to invite Australia, Israel and Japan to NATO

The accession of Australia, Israel and Japan to NATO will considerably increase the budget of the alliance and will make it a world organization. John Bolton, former national security adviser to the President of the United States, thinks so. The politician shared his thoughts on NATO expansion in a Wall Street Journal article.

Bolton recalled that even former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar had offered to invite Japan, Australia, Israel and other countries “committed to NATO defense spending targets” to the NATO membership.

“We should implement Jose Maria Aznar’s proposal,” Bolton told RT.

Bolton considers it reasonable to increase US military spending and reach the indicators of the Ronald Reagan era, for this, as the politician believes, it will be necessary to reduce budget spending in other areas.

Previously, Finland’s membership in NATO had been reported: the members of the alliance ratified its candidacy on March 31. The decision to join Sweden in NATO is still blocked by Hungary and Turkey.
