Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Najat Al-Abdullah: Enhancing family cohesion is one of the goals of Vision 2030

The Ministry of Social Development and Family is preparing to mark Family Day in Qatar, observed annually on April 15. The celebration, which has been a national tradition since 2011, underscores the pivotal role of the family in the development and progress of Qatari society.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Najat Al-Abdullah, Director of the Social Protection Department at the Ministry, emphasized that Family Day is a shared celebration across all ministries and segments of Qatari society. “The celebration of Family Day is rooted in the recognition of the family as the foundational unit of every society,” she stated.

Al-Abdullah highlighted that this annual observance aligns closely with the strategic goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in promoting family cohesion and ensuring the stability of family structures. She further noted that the Qatari constitution dedicates several articles to the protection and elevation of the family, reflecting the state’s enduring commitment to its welfare.

In an interview with Qatar TV, Al-Abdullah reiterated that the government’s development plans and national policies are fundamentally built on safeguarding family integrity and nurturing children in a healthy and stable environment. “The state’s focus on the family stems from its role as the bedrock of the nation,” she added.

This year’s celebration comes amid notable efforts by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, underlining the state’s broader commitment to community development. These initiatives reflect Qatar’s recognition of the family as the primary and most resilient nucleus of society.

Ms. Reem Al-Ajmi, Director of the Social Welfare Department at the Ministry, echoed this sentiment. In a public statement, she remarked, “The leadership’s deep commitment to family welfare is driven by a profound belief in the family’s centrality to national development. The progress of the family directly translates to the progress of the nation.”

Al-Ajmi concluded by stressing the need for a collective approach to supporting and protecting families, reinforcing their security, stability, and cohesion as pillars of a thriving society.
