The doctor explained why you should not drink kefir at night

You do not need to drink kefir at night, as it has negative health consequences, endocrinologist Zukhra Pavlova wrote on her Telegram channel.

The doctor reminded that the insulin index of kefir is one of the highest of all products. So, by consuming kefir before bedtime, that is, during the period when insulin activity is already at its peak, a person risks achieving a significant decrease in blood sugar.

Also, as the liver continues to produce glucose, blood levels can rise sharply in the morning.

Pavlova warned that regular use of kefir at night leads to a violation of carbohydrate metabolism and can lead to prediabetes, that is, a condition that precedes the disease of full-blown diabetes mellitus).

In conclusion, Pavlova recommended not eating at all and not drinking anything before bed, except water.
