Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

a provocation was organized in the colony against Navalny, he was threatened with a new criminal case

Politician Alexei Navalny has been threatened with a new criminal case after a provocation was staged against him in the settlement. The opponent’s lawyer Vadim Kobzev wrote about this on Twitter.

According to Kobzev, a prisoner was placed in Navalny’s cell, it was impossible to be near him because of his smell. On April 17, when Navalny was moved from a work cell to an ordinary cell, he refused to enter and told the administration that a provocation was underway against him.

“The administration, knowing that according to the rules of the prison, he must use violence against a cellmate and expel him from the cell, he deliberately provokes him in order to have a reason to take criminal action” , explained Kobzev.

The deputy head of the colony for operational work and a group of agents arrived at the scene. They first threatened Navalny, then called an intervention team wearing bulletproof vests and helmets, who forcibly dragged the opponent into a cell, the lawyer claims.

“Meanwhile Navalny, who offered no resistance, was kneed in the groin (also recorded on video).

Once in the cell, Navalny did not use violence against his cellmate, however, grabbing him by the collar, dragged him out. After that, he was blocked and pinned against the wall by the response group,” Kobzev continues.

After that, according to Kobzev, the colony authorities “fortunately informed” Navalny that a criminal case would be brought against him under Art. 321 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (disorganization of the activities of institutions that provide isolation from society) and “went to write documents.” The penalty under this article is up to five years in prison, the lawyer said.

“Navalny’s defense is outraged by such a frank, brazen and cynical provocation. We demand an immediate response from the leadership of the Federal Prison Service and the prosecutor’s office,” the lawyer said.

At the end of March, the Navalny telegram channel reported that the opponent had been sent to a disciplinary cell for the 12th time. This time he ended up in a ShIZO for 15 days for “presenting himself incorrectly”.

Navalny is serving a sentence in a strict regime colony in the Vladimir region. In February 2021, he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison in the Yves Rocher case. In 2022, he was sentenced to 9 years under articles on fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and on insulting trial participants (parts 1 and 2 of the article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Federation).
