April 18, 2023

Satellite footage showed scenes of massive destruction of Sudanese governmental and non-governmental buildings as a result of the ongoing clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces since last Saturday.

Black clouds and thick smoke covered the sky of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, as a result of the mutual bombardment by military aircraft by the army and heavy weapons by the Rapid Support Forces.

Khartoum airport appeared completely destroyed: the building and take-off routes, and most of the planes were destroyed and completely out of service.

Damages appeared in the building of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, and fires in the Railway Authority. The pictures also showed heavy smoke from a fire near Khartoum Hospital, another fire in the Ministry of Defense building, and damage to the headquarters of the Sudanese Armed Forces.

Numerous buildings and fuel trucks appeared destroyed and smoke was rising from them in separate areas of Khartoum, which is the city where most of the clashes have taken place so far.

Last Saturday morning, clashes erupted between the army and the “Rapid Support Forces” in Khartoum, and the two sides exchanged accusations that each of them launched an attack on the headquarters of the other, in addition to allegations of controlling each other’s sites.
