New Delhi. Karnal Rice Mill Building News: Four migrant laborers from Bihar were killed and 20 others were injured when a three-storey building of a rice mill collapsed in Tarawadi area of Karnal district in Haryana. Police gave this information. More than 150 workers were present in the mill when the incident took place at around 3 am on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Karnal Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar told PTI over phone, “Four laborers from Bihar were killed and 20 others were injured in the incident.”
Karnal Deputy Commissioner Anish Yadav told reporters, “A total of 24 people were affected in the incident. Around 150 people lived in the structure and some managed to come out of the windows in time.” “Out of 24 affected people, 20 are injured and four have died,” he said. When asked about the reason behind the building collapse, he said, “Prima facie it appears that the building was unsafe. A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of
Executive Engineer (Building and Road) will be its member. They will submit a report of the incident.” Asked whether any action would be taken against the owner of the building, he said, “We will take whatever action is required as per the law.” The work of removing debris from the spot is going on.
