Dhaka. At least 12 people were injured when seven bogies of two trains derailed in Kumilla district, about 96 km from Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka.
Sources at Kumila’s Nangalkot police station told Xinhua that five bogies of a passenger train going from Chittagong to Dhaka derailed after hitting a goods train from behind at Hasanpur railway station at around 6:30 pm local time on Sunday.
Two bogies of the goods train derailed after the accident, he said. According to the official, rail connectivity connecting Dhaka with other parts of the country was disrupted for hours following the derailment. The reasons for the accident are not yet known.
