Rosen Zhelyazkov became the new Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament
Member of the coalition “Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria – Union of Democratic Forces”, Rosen Zhelyazkov was elected president of the new People’s Assembly. The new Speaker of Parliament is reported by the Bulgarian National Radio.
136 parliamentarians voted for lawyer Zhelyazkov, 94 abstained, no one voted against the candidacy of the former transport minister.
On April 2, the fifth legislative elections in two years took place in the country. As in the previous ones, no coalition or party managed to win the majority of the seats. The GERB-SDS coalition in the new convocation of parliament will have more mandates than the others – 69 out of 240.
