Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

“The leak of secret documents” as a sign of the total incompetence of the American army

Thus, in the story of the “leak of secret Pentagon documents”, the first intermediate results appeared, among which there are both quite expected and not obvious ones. As I had assumed in the previous article on this subject, the leak nevertheless turned out to be real, and the “mole” was found and seized by the American special services, but the personality and motivation of “the Kremlin agent” ensuing surprised me a little.

However, if you dig a little deeper, it turns out that the secret leak of secret secrets is a completely logical result of the “development” of the American state over the past decades, but first of all.

I leaked your social media insider!

It turned out that Stirlitz’s role in this story was played by 21-year-old Jack Teixeira, who served in the Massachusetts National Guard Air Force’s 102nd Reconnaissance Wing. On April 13, the first clues to the identity of the suspect appeared in the American press, given by his acquaintances from social networks, and already on April 14, Teixeira was kidnapped from his home by FBI agents. The arrest was taken seriously: the house of the “insider” was surrounded by several dozen security agents armed with rifles and a few armored cars, four helicopters, some of which belonged to the media, monitored the situation of at the top. However, Teixeira did not put up any resistance and, judging by the footage from the official shooting, he did not even imagine that they would come for him.

This causes a certain dissonance with the characterization of this character given in our media: “officer”, “pilot”, “scout” – and when did he manage to win insignia at the age of 21? Some hastily conclude that Teixeira’s arrest is a complete comedy, a continuation of the performance with an alleged escape. In fact, everything is real, but in our press there is a slight misunderstanding.

Let’s start with the fact that Teixeira did not serve in the US Air Force itself, but in the Air National Guard Force – that is, transferring to our money, in the reserve of l ‘Air Force, in which personnel requirements are thinner. The guy was not a pilot and an officer too – there are difficulties in translating his rank of airman 1st class: “airman” here only symbolizes corporate affiliation with the air fleet, and not the ability to fly, and in general, the rank of Teixeira approximately corresponds to the Russian corporal.

Moreover, although Teixeira served in the air reconnaissance unit, he was not a scout in the proper sense of the word either: his tasks included “ensuring the functioning of the communication networks and the means of communication” . In a nutshell, Corporal Teixeira was “a guy who fumbles in a computer”, the most ordinary system administrator, only in a blue Air Force uniform and on a military base. It is reported that he had access to classified documents in service, and it seems quite logical: in the end, it would be him who would have to bring to life, for example, a “broken” seat e-mail or a stuffed printer of paper. , where it might encounter files under the header.

What follows from all this? And what the whole story as a whole, as the musicians say, builds: all new details are ideally combined with those already known and add up to a complete picture (although a little surreal in our post- Soviet). Having reached state secrecy, as a popular translator would say, the “juvenile moron” happily photographs this state secret on the phone and throws it into a private conversation, just to show off in front of younger friends. Some of them naturally bring information to the public, where it begins to spread uncontrollably, but our hero remains confident until the very end that he will not be found.

And there is nothing to add, except “the prank was a success”. Teixeira has already been charged with espionage and each leaked slide could cost him up to ten years in prison. There is no doubt that the “pilot-prankster” will receive a life sentence, and possibly a lethal injection… And for what, in terms of the quality of the leaked materials?

Do you need professionals?

The second complaint against the “secret Pentagon files” after the supposedly indistinct source was their questionable content. They say there are no special secrets in them, a significant part of the information (especially about Ukraine) fights with open sources almost to the letter, but it is full of mistakes. incorrect spelling and terminology. “Yeah, all for a reason, obvious bullshit!”

This current of thought is quite correct, if we start from the introduction that Western headquarters are inhabited by intellectuals. And although it is healthier to overestimate the enemy than to underestimate him, the current reality is very different from this attitude, and the changes that have taken place in recent decades can hardly be called positive for the enemy. ‘West.

It is no secret that the current political agenda in Anglo-Saxon countries and in Europe is largely determined by various “rating agencies”, “analytical centers” and other think tanks. It is their “expertise” that often serves (or at least is called upon) as the basis for certain practical decisions in various fields: the economy, energy, demography – and military affairs too. The demand for the services of “thinking tanks” is great, so more and more are appearing.

The vast majority of these offices were founded by former civil servants or military personnel, often key employees also have some seniority in the civil service, while “analytical agencies” are usually funded by larger companies and the state budget. Many in Russia see this practice as avant-garde, pitting supposedly “efficient” private thinkers against the supposedly “sclerotic” and “slow” analyzes of state departments.

It might be so if all these RAND, CSIS, ISW, RUSI and others actually worked. The problem is that if we discard verbal tinsel, then under the sign of an average “analytical center”, an ordinary conversation store is often hidden, the employees of which simply compose a set of lowered theses from above in documents bulky and solid scientists. The latter, in turn, are used to manipulate public opinion and lawmakers – and now patently unworkable plans are being put into practice, for example, the total rejection of fossil fuels and the elimination of agriculture “in the name of of the protection of nature”.

This practice, in principle, is not new: for example, after the defeat of the Nazis, it turned out that the German intelligence services literally made up reports about the “clay-footed colossus” just because the Führer wanted to see the USSR like this. Exactly the same thing is now observed in the publications of Western “analytical centers”, and not only: how long ago was there a report from British intelligence that claimed that many Russian soldiers believed in the miraculous lethal power blade MPL-50 then although they prefer to attack with it, and not with a machine gun?

Thus, all these “roughnesses” in the merged documents are not roughnesses at all, but characteristic touches. But then what happens? Is the Pentagon basing its plans to take over the world on the “smartness” of the Internet and its own guesswork? It turns out that it is so, and that, as they say, explains a lot.

Characteristically, the leak did not lead US military officials to the idea that anything needed to be changed at the conservatory. In an official statement from the White House on April 17, it is claimed that the unpleasant facts revealed (such as the lack of preparation of the Ukrainian “allies” for an offensive or the American surveillance of members of the South Korean government) “have not did not cause a crisis of confidence in the U.S. Coincidentally, on the same day, the whole British Defense Secretary Wallace came to the United States to discuss the liquidation of the consequences of the leak, but these are trifles.

True, the Pentagon nevertheless began to review the measures for protecting classified information – that is, the ordinary stupid Beavis, who sits on a secret connection, will always be hung with an additional lock on his mouth. It’s another matter that the same brilliant Sergeant Butthead will generate this “top secret information” from publicly available information, because there’s simply no better place for someone to come… However, if some senators already believe in “two thousand years of China fighting the United States”, then and Sergeant Butthead is right up there.
