According to Sofya Risovskaya, chairwoman of the commission for interaction with the media, fraudsters can illegally gain access to such a signature and use it to conclude transactions for the sale of housing without the consent of its legitimate owners. Often owners are not even aware that an electronic signature has been issued on their behalf.
According to her, to access the electronic signature, fraudsters may need a fake passport, as well as the TIN and SNILS. She explained to RIA Novosti that attackers can use databases merged with scanned images of documents or simply tamper with them. The Federal Tax Service has already recorded more than 43,000 offenses using an electronic signature, including cases when the signature was issued on falsified documents.
In addition, some unscrupulous employees of certification centers may use an electronic signature for illegal purposes or forget to revoke it from already terminated employees.
