The General Directorate of Traffic has completed its preparations to control and secure traffic during Eid Al-Fitr, according to a comprehensive plan based on intensifying patrols and traffic men in all areas. Colonel Jaber Mohammed Odaiba, Assistant Director of the Traffic Awareness Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, said in an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the department has prepared an integrated plan to manage traffic during the blessed days of Eid Al-Fitr, which will start from the night of Eid to ensure the flow of traffic and reduce violations and accidents during the holidays. This period is witnessing a large traffic of vehicles and road users in general. He added that the traffic plan is based on intensifying patrols and traffic men around mosques and Eid prayers, and inside residential areas, as well as around the areas surrounding complexes, commercial streets, markets, parks and various tourist areas around the clock. Colonel Jaber Odaiba explained that the traffic plan takes into account the movement of vehicles on the night of Eid, especially in complexes, commercial markets and residential areas, and in the morning period on the first day of Eid around mosques and chapels, then the evening period in parks and tourist places that witness active traffic, such as the Corniche, the Pearl, Lusail and Katara. And others, in addition to covering the outer lines and highways with patrols throughout the day. Colonel Jaber Odaiba urged vehicle drivers and road users to abide by traffic rules and safe driving etiquette in order to ensure the preservation of lives and property, and for everyone to reach their destinations safely and in a timely manner. The Assistant Director of the Traffic Awareness Department also called on the public to use public transport to move easily and easily, especially since the public transport network witnessed remarkable development and proved its great efficiency during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He said " Today, we have an advanced network of public transport, and the metro network has become a safe, smooth and distinct transportation service that connects the most vital and touristic areas in the country such as the Corniche, Katara, The Pearl, Lusail, and other areas, with a fleet of buses to move to and from stations, and provide parking "Park and move" about stations". In the context of his statement to QNA, he referred to the traffic awareness plan implemented by the administration during the blessed month of Ramadan, and said that it came within the comprehensive annual awareness plan for the administration for the year 2023, which aims to introduce all road users to the economic, social and health risks resulting from accidents, and to achieve security and safety. on the roads and reduce the rates of accidents, deaths and severe injuries. He also pointed out that the annual plan seeks to change the traffic behavior of all members of society to ensure their safety and protect them from the dangers of traffic accidents, raise traffic awareness rates among the segments of society and provide them with correct traffic information to achieve safety on the road. The annual traffic plan for the Traffic Awareness Department includes training courses and workshops for traffic personnel covering various administrative, organizational and media aspects, strategic planning, traffic management and the like, in addition to lectures, programs and awareness campaigns targeting various institutions, agencies, schools, driving institutes, limousine companies and other entities.
