Cases of scarlet fever registered in Russia

In Russia, cases of scarlet fever are increasingly recorded. According RG.RU a total of 162 cases have been recorded, including three in adults.

Most often, children under the age of 14 are ill. Most diagnoses are in babies under 9 years old.

The symptoms of the disease are very similar to those of measles. There are bright red rashes, the temperature rises to 38 degrees, a severe sore throat, a cough.

Most often, the route of transmission is airborne, but there is also a contact route of infection. Scarlet fever is a bacterial disease. It is caused by group A streptococci, and they can cause both scarlet fever and tonsillitis, chronic tonsillitis, glomerulonephritis, streptoderma, and erysipelas.
