Stanley Tucci has no desire to remember any particular character he played over 10 years ago. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 62-year-old actor admitted he would never agree to reprise his role as serial killer George Harvey from the 2009 crime drama The Lovely Bones.

“It was terrible,” Tucci said of the real-life film. In the story, Harvey kills a 14-year-old neighbor (Saoirse Ronan), who after her death watches over him and his family. “It’s a great movie, but a difficult experience just because of the role,” he added. Despite this, Stanley was nominated for an Oscar for his work in The Lovely Bones, but lost the win to Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds).
“I asked (director) Peter Jackson why he gave me this role. I tried to give up and it was crazy because I needed a job. But I wanted to know: ‘Why? Did you choose me? And he said, ‘Because you’re funny.’ According to Tucci, he understood perfectly what Jackson meant. “He thought I couldn’t be too – not too serious in this role. , not overly dramatic… That’s what you have to do when you play someone so terrible. You can’t fully accept it,” the actor said.
