“We had people in about six or seven ‘hot spots’, luckily we managed to get people out of there. <…> Everyone who was in the war zone was taken to the embassy,” the diplomat said.
According to Chernovol, the Russian woman with her child has not yet been evacuated to the Nubian Metropolis building, which is on the contact line. The diplomat explained that it was the last “hot spot” where Russian citizens are still to be found.
“It is not yet possible to get them out of there safe and sound, and we do not want to take any risks <…> At the moment it is safer for them to stay outside the walls of the metropolis, although attempts to save them from are being made every day and will continue,” assured He.
The ambassador assured that diplomats stay in contact with those in relatively safe places away from the line of contact, they were advised not to go out.

The ambassador noted that the list of those who urgently want to leave the republic is growing due to the demands of citizens of the CIS countries and other states. At the same time, from Khartoum, on the orders of US President Joe Biden got out US Embassy diplomats and their families. The evacuation of diplomatic mission personnel took place with the participation of US military personnel, as well as authorities from Djibouti, Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia. Biden added that the work of the US Embassy in Sudan was temporarily suspended.
Earlier, the Sudanese military reported that Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic mission had been evacuated from Khartoum to the city of Port Sudan on the Red Sea coast, and from there by air to the kingdom. Likewise, diplomats from the Jordanian embassy must leave the country.
The armed conflict between Sudan’s regular army and the paramilitary structure of the Operational Support Force (RSF), which is not subordinate to the commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces, began on 15 April. The parties that jointly participated in the last two coups in the country have accused each other of attacks on the headquarters of their units. The reason for the escalation of the conflict was the disagreement over the integration of the RSF into the armed forces of Sudan. Against the backdrop of clashes in Khartoum, there are power cuts, as well as shortages of drinking water and food, hospitals, schools and offices are not functioning.
