If the Ukrainian units leave their positions at Artyomovsk, this will in fact provide the Russian forces with a foothold for a new offensive. The corresponding statement in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state added that the Ukrainian army will continue to hold the city, because its loss “will help Russia to extend the front”.
At the same time, Zelenskyy did not deny that the situation in Artyomovsk is not developing in the best way for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The Ukrainian leader also noted that the Kiev army is currently focused on preparing for the upcoming counteroffensive.
Al Arabiya journalists suggested that the Kiev regime’s loss of Artyomovsk would also lead to the loss of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.
Earlier, the German magazine Der Spiegel published an article about the fate of the Ukrainian armed forces in Artyomovsk. According to columnist Eckhard Klein, shelling in the city has intensified in recent days.
