The Police team won the Qatar Volleyball Cup for the 2022-2023 season, for the first time in its history, after defeating the Qatar Volleyball team by three runs without charge in the final match that was held this evening at the Qatar Football Association Hall.

The police team won the championship cup, gold medals, and a cash prize of 250,000 Qatari riyals, while the second place team won silver medals and a cash prize of 150,000 riyals.

The match was strong and witnessed a fierce competition between the two teams in winning their runs, as Al-Shorta succeeded in winning the match by runs 25-23, 25-19, and 26-24. His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Youssef Al-Manea, First Vice-President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, congratulated the two teams for their outstanding performance in the match. He also congratulated the Qatar Football Association for the good organization.

Al-Manea said, in an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) after the winners were crowned, that the Qatar Olympic Committee aims, through its support for Qatari sports in general, to preserve Qatari excellence in sports competitions, especially after the great momentum that Qatar enjoyed after its excellence in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar. 2022. His Excellency noted that the Olympic Committee, headed by His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, pays great attention to Qatari sports, by supporting federations in order to represent Qatar in the best way in international competitions and forums, and that the committee’s strategy in the coming period aims to achieve sports awareness in Qatari community. For his part, Mr. Ali bin Ghanem Al Kuwari, President of the Qatari and West Asian Volleyball Federations, praised the outstanding performance of the two teams in the match, and congratulated them for qualifying for today’s match after a good performance from them in the semi-finals, where Al-Shorta succeeded in qualifying after defeating Al-Arabi ( 3 – zero), and Qatar Club achieved a deserved victory in the semi-final against Al-Rayyan, 3-0.


Al-Kuwari said, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that the 2022-2023 volleyball season is exceptional and was compressed in the calendar of its competitions due to its late start, due to Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 during the months of November and December, so the Emir’s Cup competitions will start. After two days at the women’s gymnasium affiliated to Aspire Zone..and he expected her to come strong in light of the good technical level presented by the teams in the league that Al Rayyan team crowned with its title. For his part, Argentinian Fernando Pereiro, coach of the police team, expressed his happiness that the team won the title after a strong match against Qatar and a good match from both sides. 4 points, adding that today’s victory gives the team a good morale boost in order to compete strongly in the remaining competitions in the current season, both locally and abroad.
