The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States confirmed that it is working to advance the conditions of women in the Arab region, and to combat all forms of violence and discrimination against them. The General Secretariat of the Arab League indicated, in a statement on the occasion of the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day, which falls on April 26 of each year, that it attaches great importance to issues of empowering women in the Arab region in the economic, social and cultural fields, stressing the pursuit of concerted efforts towards achieving gender equality in The framework for the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, through the adoption of many initiatives and decisions. She also drew attention to the work on coordination and cooperation between Arab countries in the field of intellectual property in a way that serves the interests of the Arab region to achieve economic and social growth since 2000, noting in this regard the signing of the memorandum of understanding with the World Intellectual Property Organization, which in 22 years has yielded a large number of achievements. And joint projects to achieve the Arab interest in the field of intellectual property. She noted that the world celebrates World Intellectual Property Day this year under the slogan: "Women and Intellectual Property: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity"In the framework of celebrating creative women and entrepreneurs, and supporting their innovations and creativity to contribute to building a sustainable knowledge economy all over the world, as women are equal to men, and they deserve to have the means that enable them to innovate and produce traditional knowledge with the aim of achieving economic, social and cultural development. The General Secretariat of the Arab League also congratulated, on this occasion, all government officials of intellectual property offices in the Arab countries, especially the women working at the head of these offices, who are members of the Arab Technical Committee for Intellectual Property, noting that this committee was formed by virtue of a decision of the Economic and Social Council on Ministerial level in 2016, and it consists of government officials for copyright and related rights offices, patent offices, trademarks and industrial models, as its mission is to set rules for cooperation in the field of intellectual property for the Arab region.
