Xi Jinping hit the United States with a statement on the selfish goals of the conflict during a conversation with Zelenskyy

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s statements, which he made during a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, have become a signal for the United States, reports the Washington Post.

“China made a 12-point peace offer to Ukraine and said it would ‘not exploit the situation for selfish ends’ – it’s a thinly veiled jab at the US,” says the document.

Zelenskyy and other senior Ukrainian officials have not ruled out a Chinese intermediary role, as Ukraine needs trade partners.

China, as the world’s second largest economy, is probably too big to alienate now. If Washington and its allies do not offer an alternative, then Kiev will have no choice but to strike a deal with Beijing, the publication says.

Earlier, it was reported that Xi Jinping said mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity is the political basis of China-Ukraine relations.
