Mumbai Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shide on Saturday announced that senior citizens, differently-abled and students will be given 25 per cent concession in the Mumbai Metro. Shri Shide said that people belonging to these categories can avail 25 per cent discount by traveling in Mumbai Metro at concessional rates from May 1.
Thousands of commuters of these categories using the Mumbai 1 National Common Mobility Card will get this discount.Mr Shide said that the Mumbai Metro network has been designed keeping in mind the needs and safety of senior citizens, differently-abled and children, hence They should get maximum benefit of these facilities.
He said that Mahamumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited and MMRDA have given this gift on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. Senior citizens, students and differently-abled passengers will get this concession for 45 trips or 60 trips on Mumbai-1 Pass. The Chief Minister said, “Earlier we made ST bus travel free for senior citizens and women were also given 50 percent concession in ST buses.
We have taken these decisions considering the sentiments of the society and I am hopeful that more people will travel due to this metro travel exemption. This facility is for senior citizens above 65 years of age, students studying up to class 12 and persons with permanent disabilities. These three categories of passengers will have to submit some valid documents for the concession.
